X Factor Season
I love this time of year. Before you all start shouting out that the weather is far too cold, and how can I be happy when the world is full of bad news about spending cuts, bear with me. The reason I love this time of year has nothing to do with the real world, and everything to do with the crazy fantasy world created by Simon Cowell. I love this time of year because it’s when The X Factor really kicks into overdrive.
Yes, I know it’s sad, but the show is now so big that you can’t escape it. Resistance is futile. You can’t turn anywhere at the minute without seeing the faces of the celebrity judges and this year’s batch of contestants staring back at you. And one person who seems to get far more column inches devoted to her than the rest is – you guessed it – Cheryl Cole.
Love her or hate her, the pint-sized pop star does seem to know a thing or two about how to grab all the attention from her fellow judges. There is a hilarious ongoing battle between Dannii Minogue and Cheryl Cole to try and outdo each other in the style stakes. But looking at Cheryl recently, it seems to me that she has taken a bit of a wrong turn somewhere. I think you know what I’m talking about… Yes, the red hair.
Why oh why did she do it? Cheryl Cole was known for her fabulous looking, if somewhat extended and enhanced, hair. It was a star in its own right. And then she went and ruined it all by turning up to the recent shows with a red mop that looks like she’s dyed it with a cheap home colouring kit before being dragged through a hedge backwards. Well, you know what they say… You can take the girl out of Newcastle…
If you are thinking about dying your own hair, my first bit of advice would be to look at Cheryl and consider what the consequences could be. I know that times are hard, but that just means you really need to make every penny count. Dying your own hair is false economy and the results will end up looking as cheap as the products. You need to think of your hair as an investment – if you spend money on it, you’ll see the benefits.
It’s quite clear that Cheryl suited the more natural brown colour much better than the shade of red she’s currently sporting. If she’d visited Reds, we would have advised her to think carefully before changing. Our resident colour specialist Greg is happy to tell clients whether he thinks a colour will suit them or not. It’s much better to be advised that something won’t suit you rather than finding it out the hard way.
If you’re thinking about a change of colour, why not pop in to have a chat with Greg – he’s available for customer consultations where he will talk you through your options, listen to your ideas and answer any questions you may have.
